Victoria Jansen

Victoria Jansen is the Chief Investigator for the TOPS Study.

Victoria is a chartered physiotherapist, specialising in hand therapy and working at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre, part of the University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

She has gained funding from the National Institute of Health Research to complete a PhD, and the TOPS Study will form the research for her thesis. Her academic team and clinical trials support is provided by the School of Medicine at Keele University (see Keele CTU).

Victoria's previous research has focussed on the use of acupuncture for thumb base OA, and the use of splinting for thumb base OA.

With a specialist expertise in osteoarthritis, Victoria is part of a group producing guidelines on the management of thumb base OA for the British Society for Surgery of the Hand. Videos provide information to patients on the best evidence for managing hand OA - supported by EULAR.
